National Rehab Now Offers IODOSORB™ Gel as Covered by
Medicare Region “A” Fee Schedule Guidelines
April 18, 2008—In accordance with Medicare DME Jurisdiction Region “A” fee schedule guidelines,
National Rehab can now provide patients with Smith & Nephew’s IODOSORB™ Cadexomer Iodine-based product. Available in gel form, IODOSORB has demonstrated the ability to create an effective wound healing environment and is effective for the management of chronic exuding sores, including infected wounds. IODOSORB gel is primarily for use in cleaning wet ulcers and wounds, such as venous stasis ulcers, pressure sores, diabetic foot ulcers, infected traumatic and surgical wounds.
IODOSORB Cadexomer Iodine Gel contains 0.9% iodine, which is slowly released as the cadexomer bead absorbs fluid. This slow release of iodine in the wound area is beneficial as the bacteriostatic and the bactericidal properties of iodine are well established. This release takes place for up to 72 hours, depending on the amount of wound exudate. Each gram of cadexomer absorbs up to approximately 6ml of fluid. IODOSORB is also designed to be highly absorbent while providing a protective, moist wound healing environment.
In addition to IODOSORB, National Rehab provides an extensive line of wound care, ostomy and urological products representing the industry’s most prominent manufacturers. National Rehab is a Medicare participating provider and has established contracts with numerous commercial insurance companies and state Medicaid organizations. The company’s service offering includes direct insurance billing on behalf of patients and same-day shipping to their homes or alternative healthcare settings.
IODOSORB™ is a registered trademark of Smith & Nephew.
